2010 Jun: Issue 3
In April 2010, MIPAC commissioned new control systems for Xstrata’s Copper Smelter in Mount Isa.
MIPAC assisted with the replacement of aging Yokogawa MicroXL distributed control systems with the latest Yokogawa CS3000 range. MIPAC worked with Xstrata Copper before and during a planned re-brick shut-down of its Copper ISASMELT™ to replace the aging system with hardware and software of the latest Yokogawa CS3000 range.
The new control system was configured with very little change to operations and now controls process areas of the Feed Preparation system, Copper ISASMELT™ and Rotary Holding Furnaces.
