Our Canadian operations have moved to facilitated offices at 1275W 6th Ave in Mt Pleasant district in Vancouver.

MIPAC engineers meet with world’s main copper producer, Codelco

MIPAC business development manager Darren Hill (left) and managing director Eddie De Rivera recently met with Codelco management at the copper mining company's offices in Santiago, Chile.

Codelco is the world’s major copper producer, controlling about 10 per cent of global reserves.

Darren and Eddie met with Codelco management to discuss how MIPAC’s experience in copper mining, concentration, smelting and refining could contribute to the improvement of Codelco's operations.


MIPAC helps mitigate arc flash risk

Many of MIPAC’s clients operate ageing plants with electrical distribution systems designed when today’s stringent safety requirements did not apply.

These plants may be at risk of an arc flash but plant redesign or new technology may not be an economical or practical solution.

MIPAC engineering manager Jon Burton recently wrote an editorial about how MIPAC addresses arc flash risk by studying clients’ current exposure and determining solutions to mitigate risk.

MIPAC does the research so clients can choose wisely

Before making a considerable investment in new infrastructure, many of MIPAC’s clients engage us to conduct pre-purchase studies so they know their money will be well spent.

For example, our electrical design team is currently conducting a load flow and fault level analysis at Mount Isa Mines’s copper concentrator.

This is being done ahead of a proposed installation of new air compressors which require varying power loads from different areas of the existing power distribution system.

We are also reviewing possible upgrade options for the electrical reticulation.

Crusher control for the Pilbara

I am pleased to announce that MIPAC will design and configure the electrical, instrumentation and control for three semi-mobile crushers at a major project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Working for Tenova TAKRAF, MIPAC engineers will undertake the electrical design and control system configuration for the two-stage crushers.

Plans for one semi-mobile crusher will be duplicated for the other two crushers, significantly reducing engineering costs.

We will also be involved in Tenova TAKRAF’s HAZOP and machine safety studies.

IsaControl package for Canada’s Eleonore IsaMill™

I am pleased to announce that MIPAC Process Automation Canada is to deliver an IsaControl package for the Eleonore IsaMill™ in James Bay, Quebec, Canada.

The package includes tailored instrumentation and control services.

We are familiar with the Goldcorp-owned plant, having already completed an instrument design project for the Goldcorp-owned site.

MIPAC engineers have worked with Xstrata Technology on a considerable number of IsaMills™ in various countries and have demonstrated experience as experts in delivering IsaControl.
