SPCC Upgrade Exceeds Emissions Targets

01-Oct-2007 In January 2007, Southern Copper (SPCC) completed a major smelter modernisation project at its Ilo smelter in Southern Peru.

The smelter modernisation increased sulfur recapture over the 92% requirement. In doing so, SPCC has not had to reduce any production levels and in fact, the newer smelting and refining technology should enable more efficient production levels.
