Ground-breaking technology in the form of an Albion Process™ Plant has been launched at GeoproMining Gold LLC’s Albion Process™ Plant in Ararat, Armenia.
Mipac worked closely with XT to deliver the technology which treats the high proportion of sulphides in feed by conducting a hot oxidative leach of finely ground concentrates at atmospheric pressure without employing autoclaves or relying on bacterial cultures.
The plant comprises fine grinding, concentrate storage and distribution, oxidative leach plant, limestone milling and distribution, oxygen plant, sodium hydroxide plant, and a flocculant plant. It is designed to produce 128,000 ounces of gold annually from refractory ore.
Over a two-year period, Mipac delivered a full range of process control engineering services including instrumentation, electrical and control system engineering, procurement and commissioning.
“This project required a broad range of services from Mipac including detailed engineering design, drawings, configuration and testing, and a technical procurement package,” Mipac Business Development Manager says.
“Mipac engineers have been on site on numerous occasions, working in tandem with the client team and other contractors.
“The project was interesting because much of the plant was designed by third parties. Mipac’s role was to interface these designs to the DCS as well as the low-voltage drive control. Many of these package plants came from overseas so communication at a technical level was challenging at times.”
