Process Control Improvements
- Gosowong, Indonesia
- I/O count: 3200
- Rockwell SLC500, Rockwell Compact Logix, Citect SCADA, OSIsoft PI System
The Gosowong Gold process plant was facing control/process performance issues due to two control systems and mixed generations of control strategy. The process was designed to recover gold using both gravity and cyanide leaching processes. Mipac was engaged to undertake an extensive full plant review including instrumentation, control and operator interface platforms and architecture, process safety, training and maintenance practices.
Project scope
- Extensive review of plant and all areas related to the instrument, control and process data systems from crushers to tailings processes
- Review control strategies and identify improvement opportunities
- Review control, data and network systems, health & life cycle requirements
- Review process safety, maintenance and support practices and governance
- Identify improvement opportunities, benefits and costs
- Develop a phased approach to opportunities & recommendations
- Presentation & workshop with key Newcrest site and corporate leaders
Project highlights
- Over 160 costed opportunities were identified with recommendations
- A phased development plan was delivered
