SunWater is an Australian water solutions provider and infrastructure company.
Mipac’s application of AVEVA PI System historian technology assisted SunWater to generate transparent information and gain insight into its asset performance.
The trial was conducted on SunWater’s commercially managed Awoonga Callide Pipeline SCADA system in Queensland. The site is located between Awoonga Dam south of Gladstone and east of Biloela.
The pipeline is about 54km long, rising in height by 514m and incorporating three pumping stations.
Project scope
- Initially Mipac conducted a three-month trial to supply, configure and commission an AVEVA PI System historian to generate data about asset performance and inform decision making within the organisation.
- Mipac’s interface design uses a Microsoft Excel interface to increase take-up across SunWater and is also scalable so users can analyse an asset’s features against different benchmarks and KPIs and maintenance and/or optimisation costs can be predicted.
Project highlights
- Mipac implemented a very easy to use interface based on Microsoft Excel to achieve maximum utilisation from all stakeholders across the organisation.
- Greater transparency of information for SunWater’s executive as well as greater insights into asset performance translating into better whole-of-life decisions for asset management.
- The historian was rolled out to more than 70 networked sites across Queensland.
