This year, as we celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme of ‘Count her in: Invest in Women. Accelerate progress.’, it’s imperative to address the barriers faced by women in engineering and actively encourage and support women to pursue careers in STEM fields. As a start, we asked some of our women at Mipac what career advice they would give to their younger selves. Here’s what they said.
Jake Minehan always loved gadgets and building things, so it was no surprise that he decided to study mechatronics engineering at university. Now a graduate engineer at Mipac, working with one of the company’s biggest clients, he says on-the-job learning has been vastly different to sitting in a classroom.
We sat down with him to find out why and to learn more about what’s it like to be a graduate engineer at Mipac.

Senior Control Systems Engineer Mohamed (Mo) Sakr and Lead Control Systems Engineer Yasser Elshohna first met at college in Egypt. A decade and a half later, following diverse career paths which took them across the petrochemicals, oil and gas, mining and construction, water treatment and thermal power industries across two countries, they are colleagues again at Mipac.

Now working on some of Mipac’s biggest projects on the African continent, we sat down with him to find out more about his career journey, the kinds of projects he’s working on and the things he’s learnt since joining Mipac just under two years ago.
